Children’s Dental Care at Narrogin Dental Group

At Narrogin Dental Group, our team welcomes all ages of patients. We love seeing kids at our practice. In our fun, comfortable environment, your child will learn to enjoy attending their dental visits and won’t develop common dental fears that many people have today. Every member of our staff will make sure that they have a pleasant experience each time they see us.

Our Services For Children

  • Routine cleanings and examinations: Periodic evaluations make sure that any problems are caught early on and addressed. They’ll learn healthy oral habits and how to keep their teeth and gums in great shape. If further treatment is needed, we’ll discuss it with you so that you can decide how you would like to proceed.
  • Custom mouthguards: If your child participates in sport, you want to make sure that they’re protected from injury. Our professional-grade mouthguards are customised to the individual, making them a snug, safe fit. They can even choose the colour they want for their mouthguard.
  • Fillings: Dental decay is a common problem, particularly during childhood when your child may not be stringent about their oral habits and techniques. We can provide them with a tooth-coloured filling. It blends in with their smile seamlessly so that nobody knows it’s there.
  • Orthodontic evaluations: During your child’s checkups, we will monitor their bite and the formation of their teeth. If we believe that they will require orthodontics in the future, we’ll discuss it with you.
  • Fissure sealants: Prevention is always better than cure. A fissure sealant is a thin layer of material applied to the back teeth. These teeth have deep grooves and are more likely to get cavities. A fissure sealant will protect the pits from being susceptible to decay. The application takes just a few minutes.
  • Fluoride treatments: Fluoride is a substance that helps your teeth resist decay. We can give your child a concentrated application to reverse early demineralisation and prevent decay from being able to set in. This treatment is given at their regular checkups with us.
  • Sedation: We do treatment under nitrous oxide (laughing gas) for anxious patients and also use general anesthesia for multiple teeth exractions or fillings.

The Child Dental Benefits Schedule

We accept the Child Dental Benefits Schedule. This programme covers $1000 every two years in basic dental services. As such, options like orthodontics are not covered. Examinations, cleanings, fillings, fissure sealants and more are provided for under this programme. Children must be between the ages of 2-17 and receive a benefit such as Family Benefit A to be eligible.

Frequently Asked Questions

When should a child start to see a dentist?

We recommend that your child have their first checkup with us shortly after their first teeth have erupted. It can also be a good idea to have your younger children accompany an older brother or sister to their dental visits. This allows them to become familiar with our environment and staff members.

Will they learn how to brush and floss by themselves?

Your child’s oral health in the future is largely dictated by what they learn to do now. We focus on teaching them how to brush, floss and even which foods to eat, amongst other advice. Oral hygiene instruction is a major part of what we talk to them about at their routine visits with us.

What are my payment options?

We accept all health funds and your rebate can be claimed on the spot with our HICAPS machine. If you are not covered until the Child Dental Benefits Schedule, we will be happy to discuss payment plans with you.
